Evaluating pedestrian access to public transport in Geneva

Walkability and pedestrian access is central to the success of any public transport system. Elevating walkability in public transport planning can:

  • Increase ridership
  • Reduce dependency on private vehicles
  • Reduce congestion and carbon emissions
  • Improve public health

Made possible by the MODUS Foundation, this project partners with tpg to evaluate pedestrian access to public transport in Geneva and identify key improvements.

Project approach

Jointly led by Pedestrian Mobility Switzerland and tpg, this project includes:

  • A quantitative analysis that analyses pedestrian access to and from public transport
  • A qualitative analysis that analyses environmental conditions and factors that impact walkability to public transport
  • A walkshop to observe conditions first-hand, discuss problems and opportunities, and identify solutions
