Would you like to participate in a Jane’s Walk?
If you would like to learn from and share stories about your neighborhood with others, a Jane’s Walk is the perfect program for you.
Jane’s Walks are free, volunteer-led neighborhood walks held each year on the first weekend of May. Inspired by the ideas of urban activist Jane Jacobs, they encourage people to explore their communities through observation, conversation, and shared local experiences.
Pedestrian Mobility Switzerland is coordinating its sixth Jane’s Walks. Held simultaneously in hundreds of cities around the world, the walks invite participants to discover neighborhoods from new perspectives and engage in conversations about the places they live. This year’s program includes an interactive walk through Dübendorf exploring the challenges and opportunities of planning spaces for future generations; a stroll through Lucerne’s urban mini-oases; a tour of favorite walking routes in a Winterthur neighborhood; an opportunity to experience and appreciate the development of active mobility in Upper Valais; and a chance to uncover the hidden charm of planning missteps around Zurich Main Station, among many others!
The walks are free. Registration is required.
