Joy of walking

From 1 to 100 years, we walk.

To improve the quality of walking and public spaces, safe facilities are essential, but they are not enough to make people want to walk.

A culture of walking

  • Variety: Danish architect Jan Gehl says we need a little surprise every 6 seconds to keep us entertained while we walk.
  • Sojourn: To walk, you need to be able to sit down! The most beautiful routes take you through parks and squares or along the water’s edge. We need benches in these places, but also on all our everyday paths.
  • The senses: Walking affects all our senses: sight, hearing, smell, the sensations under our feet and on our skin, and for those with a sweet tooth, the berries we can pick along the way!
